Guest Miguel Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Re: 2003 Trial Version -- setup dialog troubleshooting Hello everyone, i downloaded the windows server trial version to practice at home, however i'm having a small problem. I downloaded the ISO file in my work place and when i get at home, i inserted the CD and all it shows up is a the file X13-05665.img. When i double click the icon i get an error message saying that windows cannot open the file and if i would like to select a program from a list or use the internet to open the file. I know this might sounds silly but i really don't know what to do. Thank you in advance

Use your burning software and choose the option to burn from image file. Then it will extract the real folder structure to disk. Problem as well is that i'm trying to install the trial version on a old computer that doesn't have cd-rw but functions at 800mhz processor and 512 RAM. It's enough to practice at home. Is it possible to connect my laptop or my recent computer to my old computer with a network cable, and load the cd from my most recent computer ( wich has the cd-rw) to the old computer? I also have an external cd-rw from the old computer but for my bad luck is not working,... Guest Meinolf Weber Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Re: 2003 Trial Version -- setup dialog troubleshooting Re: 2003 Trial Version -- setup dialog troubleshooting Hello miguel, If you have the real disk burned, copy it to a shared folder on the machine. Give both machines fixed ip's and use a cross cable to connect them directly or connect via a switch. Create a boot disk, http://www.bootdisk.com/ , with network support and connect to the share from theire it should be possible to start the installation. I'm just installing the windows server with a Evaluation KIT CD that i asked at school. Allthought, the way you troubleshoot the problem looks perfect to me and it should work. Plus, is a good lesson for me because i only have 2 exams done so far. Thank you so much once again :-) Kind regards Miguel Pinto "Meinolf Weber" wrote: > Hello miguel, > > If you have the real disk burned, copy it to a shared folder on the machine. > Give both machines fixed ip's and use a cross cable to connect them directly > or connect via a switch.
