burning-ape Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 This is probably a really common question, but I've been told by a couple of guys that I'm better off with AMD, due to my graphics card being ATi, which is a part of AMD. Also, apparently, you get "more bang for your buck" Mega-confusion o.o Quote
Dalo Harkin Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 LOL - at this moment in time AMD is getting beat hands down by INTEL - and its the INTEL chips that offer more bangs for buck - the GPU market is a different matter - ATI is ahead of NVIDIA but only marginally ;) Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.

Dalo Harkin Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Thats 4 years away matey - I used to vote AMD all the time but the dual and quad cores have really pounded AMD as of late. burning-ape Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 If I'm building a PC in 4 years time, AMD it is then :P But for now, Intel will do me fine. Quote

Dalo Harkin Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 And we will have VIA to contend with too - and lets not even think about if NVIDIA start making CPU's ;) Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
Plastic Nev Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Not to mention all the other advances proposed by various manufacturers by then. Solid state hard drives, based on a new magnetic principle, so no spinning disks. True touch screen technology, so no mouse any more. CPU's based on a different technology all together, that won't even get warm, no need for all those whirring fans. Who knows what else may be in production in four years time? TheSlee Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 and what if a new company bring out CPUs/GPUs that blow all the others out of the water. so much to consider, my brain melted Quote
Dalo Harkin Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 At the moment - Intel for CPU's and ATI for GPU's There is no chance of any other companies coming in and dominating the market - AMD and INTEL and ATI (AMD) and NVIDIA - thats pretty much it, any others dont have the resources or the money to bid in the war :D Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
