Terminal service and Outlook2003 printing problem

Hi all,

We have a strange problem since the upgrade of our Windows 2003 server to

R2.

When the users try to print email using outlook 2003 nothing append No

message nothing printed.

I have found a workaround.

First open the email message by double clicking its name then click the

Forward button and print the message from the forward message window.

Do you have an idea ?

Regards,

Marc

Re: Terminal service and Outlook2003 printing problem

Hi Marc,

Is IE7 installed on your TS?

If you logon directly to the console and attempt to print

using Outlook 2003 does it work?

I did a few searches using google web and groups, and the

MS knowledgebase and it seems likely that this problem is

not related to terminal services. I found many people complaining

about being unable to print unless they used the workaround

you mentioned.

Have you tried asking your question in one of the outlook

newsgroups, for example microsoft.public.outlook.printing?

Thanks.

Hi TP :)

no, IE7 is not installed on the TS.

Re: Terminal service and Outlook2003 printing problem

Ok,

Let me see if my understanding is correct. You logon using

your admin account via TS and you are unable to print, but

if you logon to the console using the same admin account

and the *same* default printer selection you can print fine?

Using the same account and same printer are important to

the test.

There are no error messages displayed or logged in the

System or Application logs?

Thanks.

Yes that it.

I can print when logged to the console but not via TS, using the same

account and same defaut printer.

No error displayed, the printer selection box isn't displayed.

No errror logged in th event viewer :(

The problem only occurs with Outlook 2003 and not with Word or Excel for

example.

Re: Terminal service and Outlook2003 printing problem

Ok i've done more testing.

In fact i didn't print the same messages from the console and from my TS

session. One was HTML message and the other one a text message.

The text message print just correctly but the Html one causes the issue.

I think this is definitely not a TS issue.

Thanks.

Hi again,

Thanks for reporting back. Please take a look over in the

outlook groups for some potential fixes--when I searched

there were some suggestions.

Thanks.
