Guest snoopy07 Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I have BT broadband using a Voyager 2091 router. Whilst I am able to comnnect to the internet OK the internet connection icon no longer appears in the control panel or down on the notification area. It used to dissapear periodically but generally came back if the router was reset. It now will not appear at all so I cannot tell what speed I am connected or any properties etc. My local area connection icon to the router appears OK. Anybody got any clues (I have already removed BT Desktop help)

Anybody got any > clues (I have already removed BT Desktop help) Try this: Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet connections >> Double click Network Connections. There on the LAN or the Wireless Icon right click and select Properties, on the Properties under general tab there two Check boxes at the Bottom of the window: [ ] Show Icon in Notification area when connected [ ] Show Icon on Notification area when there is limited or no Connectivity . check those two boxes and click [OK]. Does this help. Or right click the Start Button select properties then click on Taskbar tab , click on Hide Inactive Icons and there select always show for the LAN. HTH. Guest snoopy07 Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 RE: Dissapearing internet connection icon All these boxes have always been checked. The problem seems to be that the Internet Connection icon is not always visible in the Network Connections folder although the LAN icon is. When the Internet Connection icon is showing the "show on taskbar when connected" is ticked. The problem seems to be that despite being connected to the internet, windows seems to think it is not. When I right click on the icon the "status" is greyed out, the properties are OK. Also "connect" is available (despite being already connected on BT broadband) and if I click connect it says connection failed. As already stated, sometimes the connection icon is not visible at all in the Network Connections folder, despite being connected. Gut feel is that it is something to do with either a Windows update, a NIS 2007 update, or changes in the connection system operated by BT internet. BT are of course absolutely useless in even understanding the problem. "nass" wrote: > > > "snoopy07" wrote: > > > I have BT broadband using a Voyager 2091 router.
