hi i was trying to solve the problem of my screen keep going blank so plugged it in to my old base unit and it worked, but then i opened up my other base uniy took everything out including battery but when i put it all back togrther the thing wont even boot up now although the small green light does come on inside the pc can you help

Did you take the MOBO (Motherboard) out - double check that you have connected all the wires from the case to the MOBO and that the ATX power cables are all firmly clicked into place

didnt take the mother board out but will double check again that everything is connected properly, anything in particular i should make sure is connected back, thanks for response

am at work now so hav to get ure advice in day times and try them out when i get home, once again thanks, hopefully ill get there in the end

The green light indicates that the MOBO has power - so just check all the MOLEX's are connected to what they are meant to be HDD's etc.

Check that all the cables are ok on the GPU (graphics card) and anything you took out - just double check its all connected to the power

hi there, ive checked all cables and all seem to be in place, do you know where i could possibly get a diagram od the set up of my pc, dont know what it is at mo aas at work but can find out.

also the problem seemed to start once i took the battery out and put it back in again, do you think it could be the battery

If it all started when you took the battery out and then replaced it then that means that some of the settings in the BIOS would have changed and your system needs them the same way they were before -

Who built/made the PC?

If the battery was dying then you would get a message saying so at the post screen.

I would not have thought you would get a diagram - do you mean of the Motherboard as there is one in my PC build guide of a Motherboard

You cannot change the BIOS - well its hard enough in a tower let alone a lappy - you need to check that all the settings in the BIOS are right - like its holding the time etc.

a diagram will do you no good - they just go where there is a space for them - if you have no experience of 'fixing' laptops then I suggest that you take it to someone that does

If so - how many and in what sequence ? ( 3 short / 1 long; 2 short ?? )

 

When you put the CMOS battery back did you put it in correctly with the + face up?
