streaming from pc to tv

Hi all can anyone help me with this please my lad has asked me (ye right) if i can find out if he can use his pc to stream stuff to his tv as its a bigger screen and hd ready so he can lay in his pit and watch stuff rather than sit up and watch!!!!! but he doesnt want the tv as a sole monitor he just wants to be able to watch his streamed stuff ..anyway his

 

tv is hd ready has a hdmi slot

 

the pc is an -athlon dual core 4600 2 gig ddr2 asus m2v motherboard with on board graphics

 

can anyone give me some help with the best way to do this

Hi,

 

The best thing to do is get a VGA to HDMI adapter and then he can run whatever he likes to the TV.

just been having a nose around and the pc has a video dvi connection

cheers halo but would that not mean he will have to keep unplugging the vga connection when he swops from his monitor the tv only he works in a confined space and its difficult to get to the vga connection on his pc

Ok - you said onboard VGA and then mentioned DVI - DVI is normally a GPU (Graphics card) if this is the case then he can plug the DVI into the PC monitor and the VGA can be used to connect to the HDMI TV

cheers for the advice have ordered a dvi 2 hdmi cable ..never tried this before so just wondering will i need any software for this ..how will i direct the images to me tele instead of me monitor or will it give me a choice of devices to use or do i have to alter the display settings in display properties cheers

Yes - on the graphics display adapter, it will show 2 screens and you basically switch between the 2 on that when needed :)
