Every time I start a friends XP Home SP2 machine, it says that it can not

create the pagefile. I have checked the security settings of the C drive,

and it appears to be ok. have changed some of the security settings for

the page file and it did not resolve the issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Windows can't create PageFile

Plenty of Free Space ? - check to see if there is a pre-existing

Pagefile.Sys

that may have been orphaned. Which security software ( AV /Firewall ) is

being used. Is the drive which should have the pagefile free of error(s)>?

If the pagefile cannot be created, how did you modify security settings for

the Pagefile ?

Joe, how much hard drive space is available on your friends computer?

Try rt clicking

MyComputer>select

Properties>Advanced>Performance-Settings>Advanced>Virtual

Memory>You do any changes there if necessary

Re: Windows can't create PageFile

1- There is about 15-20G available

2- There is no Pagefile.SYS file located in the root of C: only 1 drive

letter.

3- There is NO av program currently installed, Verizon FIOS install an AV

program which has since been removed. The drive has been scanned with both

OneCare and Norton without it finding anything.

4-The drive appears to be free of errors, check disk is not finding anything

5- I booting into safe mode and brought the properties of C: and made sure

system & admin has full permission, I also booted into WinInternations, and

reset the permisions.

All did not resolve the issue.
