mike Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 If you are feeling brave you could dive in and try to clean the trackpad. It would mean taking the laptop to parts and removing the dried liquid. KenB Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 This depends upon how long ago you spilled the liquid, how much and what the liquid was. If it was within 24 hours then DO NOT turn the laptop on again. Water and electronics do not mix The liquid may have found its way through to the Main Board. If the liquid was water then there is a chance that it will evaporate without residue.. You could speed up this process by using a hairdryer set on half power through the vents and over the keys. In any event leave the laptop off for 2 to 3 days to allow the liquid to thoroughly dry off before you switch on again. If no go with the keyboard then a replacement is your only option - and hope that the rest of the electronics has been untouched. Guest Wolfeymole Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I must apologise Canaani as I read your post wrongly, I would not recommend trying to strip the laptop down yourself, they are unbelievably hard to dismantle but instead take it to an authorised repair centre. Quote
Guest Saxon Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I think if you are not experienced a laptop is not exactly what you want to be stripping down, I deal with a fair number of laptops but I hate having to strip them down an try to avoid it when ever i can. If how ever you decide to do it it might be hard to find a new track pad at a reasonable price, ebay is your best bet. Quote
