wireless and lan connections

Good day Alll.

Sorry if this topic is posted elsewhere. I have looked for

a near match but none.

anyways.

What i wanted to know.

I have a wired connection and a wireless connection

operational.

My lan connection uses a proxy fro the internet and the

wireless connection does not use any. the reason the wireless

connection uses no proxy is because of guest atmy company..

What i would primarily like to do is have my LAN

connection not to be used for the internet.

It seems that whenever i plug the wired connection back on..

it takes over for the internet.. how do i let the wired

connection not be used for internet access.

Network Connections, Advanced, Connections - Use the Arrows

to modify the preferred connection.

Set the "Default Gateway" and the "DNS Server" addresses

for your wired connections to an invalid number, e.g. to

222.222.222.222. If this makes no sense, post the output

from this command in your reply:

ipconfig /all

Hi I have tried that..

even with the dns and gateway changes . internet

explorer still looks at the lan connection.

just another explaination.

when i unplugg tye wired connection.. I go to internet

settings and then connections, where i uncheck to use proxy

settings.. the only i have access to the internet. but the

moment i plug back the lan connection. internet cannot be

refreshed or go further. now my guess is that Internet

explorer uses the lan connections as the preferred choice

and then switched over to wired lan. Then since there is

no proxy specified there will be no internet.

How do I get inetrnet explorer to only use the wireless

connection even when the wired connection is plugged in? i

am sure there is some preferance setting somewhere..

Thanks for your help..

"Interface Metric" might be your answer. Have a look here:

Thanks.. That brought alot of insite to controlling the

network connections. but i still need to find out how can

i get IE to use the wireless only.

I have tried the metric config. but i would like the wired

connection to have access to other lan connections when

the metric is changed it is always using the wireless first.

which is not what i want.. i just want IE to use one

specific interface.
