Hi there, i have made a video on Windows Movie Maker which is a compilation video of clips from youtube with a song in the background.

I have finished the video and it is 17 mins long but when i try and export it from WMM to my computer to enable me to put it on youtube i get this message.

"Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again"

i have made sure all of the above is correct but it is still not saving to my computer which is doing my head in as i've spent alot of time on this video.

Does anyone have any ideas what it might be?

Thanks alot! :)

Usually when I get that it's because I've moved one of the original files. So if one of the files on the MM clipboard was imported and then the original file was later moved it will generate that message.

The most likely reason for the error message is as Randy statyed. However, the error might also occur if the file size of the video exceeds the amount of RAM you have installed on your computer. Please read the following article to gain the instructions on how to resolve it.

Movie Maker 2 stops responding when you try to save a large movie file

By the way, I don't think YouTube will allow you to upload a file if it is larger than 30 MBs. I don't know if they have increased the permissible limit or not but I think that was the maximum limit I checked the site. Hope that helps. :)

Can you export the movie as another File Type?

Do you have enough space on your Hard Drive for the exported movie? When exporting it should say how much space it will take up... You can then check the amount of free hard drive space you have by simply;

- Click Start

- Click My Computer

- Right Click on the C Drive.. It might be called Local Disk or words to that effect.

- Click Properties

You should then see a Pie Chart and how much free disk space is left on your C Drive.

Alternative way to verify ur files haven't been moved when using WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER

u said u checked...so i suppose this is kinda repetative...but when ur in movie maker if u right click the media listed in the imported items section, then click properties, it should list the name, file type, resolution...if it doesn't then ur file has been moved. perhaps the file is gonna be too big...the new windows media player saves in much higherquality than the old versions...maybe try saving to a cd. Also if u right click the file u can go browse file location and it should list ur file under that location.
