Guest Keith_N Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Could someone tell me how to stop Windows XP Home SP2 drom connecting to the internet automatically as soon as Windows starts please? After a recent Miccrosoft Update I think, my connection settings have somehow changed and the Dialup Dialogue Box comes up with the Connect Automatically Box checked and the cancel button greyed out so I can't stop it from Connecting on Startup. Any help with this annoyance greatly appreciated, Cheers Keith

Guest Unknown Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Re: Automatic Dialling problem Windows XP Sorry, it has been over a year since I had dial-up. However I remember there was a box to check labeled "Do not dial" "Keith_N" <KeithN@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5731624C-8862-4FD9-9582-553571E4D5C4@microsoft.com... >I have tried looking in msconfig but cannot find the browser and e-mail > programs, i am using IE7 and Outlook Express, but cannot see them in the > list, can you explain what to look for in a bit more detail please? thanks > > "Keith_N" wrote: > >> Could someone tell me how to stop Windows XP Home SP2 drom connecting to >> the >> internet automatically as soon as Windows starts please? >> >> After a recent Miccrosoft Update I think, my connection settings have >> somehow changed and the Dialup Dialogue Box comes up with the Connect >> Automatically Box checked and the cancel button greyed out so I can't >> stop it >> from Connecting on Startup. >> >> Any help with this annoyance greatly appreciated, >> >> Cheers >> >> Keith

Choose Never Dial a Connection. Choose Appy, then OK. If connections have been added that you know shouldn't be there, remove them using the Remove button. I think you open Network Connections, right-click the Dial-Up connection, click "Create shortcut". This should create a dialer icon on the Desktop. -- Joe =o)
