Guest mc Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Starting a few days ago whenever I initiate a search, nothing happens except returning to the windows explorer window with no apparent disk activity, and I can proceed onto other things. I went into task manager to take a look, under the application tab explorer is shown to be running fine, but under the process tab it is shown to be taking up 50% of the CPU. The only way to return to normal is to reboot. Anyone has any idea how to fix it? I am running XP sp2.

Guest mc Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Re: Explorer Search problem It does not get even that far to search window for me to specify anything. For example, from windows explorer, I right click on the drive or folder and select the search option. Instead of giving me the search window to specify search parameters, it simply return me to the regular windows explorer window as if nothing happened. Guest mc Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Re: Explorer Search problem No, nothing. Just send me right back to the regular windows explorer window as if nothing happened. Guest Unknown Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Re: Explorer Search problem I would try a System Restore first. If that doesn't do it you can do a repair install.
