Server 2003 R2 x64 SP2 taking forever to install

Recommended Posts

I've installed many service packs, but never this particular one and

this just doesn't seem right. I'm using RDP to install SP2 and it

completed downloading and started installing approximately 3 hours

ago and the progress bar is maybe 15% of the way done. It does seem

to still be running.

This is a brand new clean Server 2003 install, the very first thing I

did after installing was run Windows Update. This is on a Dell

PowerEdge 2850 with 4gig of memory and a 15K SCSI drive.

Any ideas or is this actually "normal"?

Hello,

are you connected with /console ?

It may be asking something and waiting for an answer ;)

Yes I am, that's how I can see the progress. Ah!!! Nevermind, there

WAS a prompt but it was hidden behind the Windows Update IE window.
