Tootech Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 After a bit if research, I am pretty sure the error is realated to Vista SP1 installation . There are lots of workarounds, depending on excatly what file is causing the problem. Also, some people are saying that they ended up reinstalling Vista. I have to say that I havn't yet attempted a fix for this problem, and talking you through it may end up making it worse. Two options I think are available to you - perhaps the quickest would be a reinstall of Vista. First thought is, do you have an addional CD/DVD that came with your PC - you will more than likely need the drivers/utilities for you mainboard. if not, can you get it from the PC builder that supplied you. Everything is downloadable, but you would need to know the mainboard make/model to do that. If you can get that info, post it here. The second option is to contact Microsoft - they are supporting Vista SP1 free until March 09 - see link Windows Vista SP1 Support Let us know how you get on. Quote
kazanne Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 TooTech,I do know the person who built it for me,but will not see him till later I will get the relevent info,I have also contacted Microsoft,so fingers crossed. Quote
kazanne Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 Sorry Sorry haven't got back sooner,I am still waiting for the guy who built the PC to come & look at it .He came once & could not do it,but he is coming to clean the hard drive etc,so I will let you know how it goes,I haven't re-installed Windows Vista yet as he wants to see if he can do it so that I wont lose all my data, but as a last resort,I guess that's what it will be.will get back to you asap.:) Quote
