game not responding

i am having a problem when i try to play games.

when i try to play a game it crashes.this happens 2/3 times. 1/3 time i can play a game with out any problems at all. but once i close it and try to open it again it crashes again. my pc specs are enough to play evry game i try to play.

 

250 gb hard drive

2 gb ram

19" widescreen moniter

3.2 ghz dual core pentium D

Nvidia geforce 8400 gs

every time i open a game it will play a fewe of the opening credits and then freeze. i can manage to get task manager to open and it show the game as not responding . it also shows the cpu usage as very high 70-100%.

Your GPU - (graphics card) is a budget one and while it may be able to play the games - I am guessing that you are trying to play them at your native resolution 1280x1024? and that is where it will be tripping the card - try and reduce the 'eye candy' like the AA and AF to none and see if that helps - you can normally do this VIA the driver - or just try dropping the resolution to 1024x768 to see if that helps.
