raid controller 1 contains bad stripe

I have a server 2003 in my school running RAID 5.

A couple months back, I replaced a hard drive because my event log was

filling up and the light on the drive was orange (obviously RAID

troubleshooting is not my forte!)

Now my event log is filled again with: An error was detected on device

\Device\Harddisk0 during a paging operation.

A freind gave me some error checking software and it comes up with the

message: raid controller 1 contains bad stripe

Can I assume the problem is the RAID controller or do I need to do further

investigating?

Thanks,

Re: raid controller 1 contains bad stripe

Thank you Dave. I guess looking at the Event ID # should have been my first

step. They're all #51. This signifies that even though replacing the bad

drive 2 months back led to a successful rebuild, the OS is probably still

looking for some missing files. So, just to confirm I'm reading this

article properly, I'm planning to do a chkdsk /f first. This should help

prevent the OS for looking for missing files. In the future, I may still

receive some Event Error 51s. But not so many to fill up my event log.

Thanks

Yes, just be sure you're properly backed up before doing so.
