Guest BigDogR Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 New hard drive and RAM. Reloaded Windows Only. Performed updates only. Now mouse and keyboard lockup. Happens regularly. Go to just setup/Bios screen and no problem. Boot up in SAFE mode and am OK. Go back to full boot and locks up at different intervals. Suggestions? -- Many thanks - BD

The fact that hardware may be new is irrelevant; if hardware is going to fail it will usually do so very soon after purchase or go for years. Start by testing your RAM (and presumably you bought the correct RAM for your motherboard) and then your hard drive. Here are general hardware troubleshooting steps: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Hardware_Tshoot Standard caveat: Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Have all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers http://www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User
