Guest RJK Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 HOW do I copy or move my (ide) XP Home (all MS updated) boot partition, to a SATA hd ? I've got Ghost 9, can I do it with that ? ATM I have xp home sp2 on PATA hd on ide0. There are two SATA 150 ports on my motherboard and after going around in circles for ages and noting that I don't have eSATA ....and can't do SATA2/300...etc ...phew ! ...etc. ....oh my God, where was I ? If I fit two SATA hd's (I don't want RAID - not supported on my board anyway), ...I'd at least get my transfer speeds back to what they were when I had, (different mobo), 2 x ATA133 IDE hd's in my main system box using UDMA6, ...before changing motherboard / slipped up and ended up, as now, with a motherboard that can only manage ATA100 on ide, ...though having said that, my slave IDE Maxtor 6Y080L0 is reported in bios as using UDMA6 ? ....oh done it again ! HOW do I copy or move my (ide) boot partition, to a SATA hd ? (...I know that I have to install some sort of overlay or driver form the motherboard CD to use the SATA hardware on the motherboard). TIA regards, Richard

After you've calmed down a little (but before you post elsewhere!), have a look here: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm. The following items seem relevant: - Decide where to post... - Before going into detail, clearly summarize the problem. - Make a concise, clear description of the problem. Guest RJK Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Re: How to copy/move XP boot drive from ide to sata hd ? Nothing better to do, other than lecture people on the tidiness of their posts ? It's easily discernable from my OP what I want to do, you've simply obviously no intention of providing any useful tips ! Also, but don't know, you probably have only one way in the bios setup to make the SATA drives bootable. In that process, you will lose accessibility to one ide port at minimum. There's also, probably, a way to map the SATA to ide in the bios setup. Lot of distractors in your post. So is the non-existent needed pertinent information that Peg noted as well. Seems intended for some reason from where I sit. Dave
