Laptop Problems

Hi

i have a medion laptop . thats giving me grief , the problem is i just cant get xp to install, at different stages of the install i get a blue screen with a lot of gibberish ,

I can install windows 98 and it runs perfectly apart from i just cant track down video drivers . my laptop has 2gb p4 processor 40gb hdd and 512 ram . any help of what could be causing this would be much appreciated :)

What exactly does it say on the copy of XP that you have?

 

Did you completely remove 98 by any other means apart from via the XP disk?

If it runs 98 by default then I doubt that XP will be compatible - you are far better off leaving laptops with what they have on as they build the laptop around the minimum specs for the OS

Sorry i wasnt clear enough . the laptop came with windows xp installed it has xp seial in rhe label underside , i have tried 3 different versions of xp all fail to instal various points , i tried installing windows 98 which works and installs fine , just cant find graphic grivers or i could live with win 98 the blue screen i get mentions physical memory dump ect ect , thats why i was wondering if my memory may be at fault

Whats the make and model number of the lappy?

There is no driver for 98 for that laptop.

Page 67 claims the laptop came with a recovery cd.

 

If your performing the install correctly, then the error you receive indicates a hardware problem.
