Guest jim.e.dimoni@bank.of.nigeria.com Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 My startup has become very slow. what is XP doing during this time so I might troubleshoot this? from the welcome screen to the wallpaper takes 30 sec. from the wallpaper to the desktop icons appearing takes 75 sec. There is little disk activity during the latter time. I did a minimum load via msconfig. nothing in the startup folder. I have 0.5GB PC133 memory, I believe running at 133. athlon Tbred B running 1900MHz standard voltages. ran memory test - no problems cable internet USB printer in stby USB UPS none of this appears to load until after the 75 sec. thx

It may be looking for your network. If you don't have one, open Network Properties and disable "Client for MS Networks" and "File and Printer sharing". -- Joe =o)
