Guest goundhog Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Both my DC's (Windows Server 2003 R2 native AD) get these errors every 5mins in the Application log and they are filling the logs up Eventid 1054 Source: Userenv Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (An unexpected network error occurred. ). Group Policy processing aborted. So far I have followed the microsoft suggestion as listed below but i still get the errors - I have listed the results of the suggestions - In Event Viewer, click System, and check for any networking-related messages, such as Netlogon messages, that indicate a network connectivity issue. no known network connectiviy issues - At the command prompt, type netdiag, and note any errors. Those errors usually have to be resolved before Group Policy processing can continue. no errors At the command prompt, type gpupdate, and then check Event Viewer to see if the Userenv 1054 event is logged again. gpupdate done To verify that the domain controller can be contacted through Domain Name System (DNS), try to access \\mydomain.com\sysvol\mydomain.com, where mydomain.com is the fully qualified DNS name of your domain. connects fine Verify that you can access the domain controller by using tools such as the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in. tools work fine Check to see whether other computers on your network are having the same problem. Only the DC's get this message
