Guest tvs Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 The task scheduler service ITSELF will not start: When I go to the servicec manager, and tell it to start the Task Scheduler,: 1) I get a pop- up error: "Could not start the Task Scheduler service on Local Computer Error 5: Access is denied" 2) The SchedLgU.Txt log file shows: "Task Scheduler Service" Started at 9/22/2007 7:15:30 PM "Task Scheduler Service" 9/22/2007 7:15:30 PM ** Error ** A failure occurred during service initialization. The specific error is: 0x80070005: Access is denied. Try using the Task page Browse button to locate the application. "Task Scheduler Service" Note that I am running the task scheduler as local system user (normal setting) System is XP Pro SP2, up to date as of today Thanks

To confirm this, try starting it under an admin account, then put it back to the System account.
