Guest monty1945@lycos.com Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 When I tried to do this, it took a look time in the retrieving information stage, a few error messages appeared, and it never got to the next stage, so I canceled it. This happened three times. Can I just go locate all the Nero files and manually delete them, or is there a better way? Thanks.
Guest glee Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Re: Why can't I get Nero 7 off the hard drive with Add/Remove program? What were the error messages, exactly? That might help us determine if the problem is with the Nero uninstaller or with your system. You can try some of the Nero 7 Clean Tools: http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/Clean_Tools.html The Nero 7 Clean Tool, General CleanTool, and Registry Checker and Driver CleanTool would be good ones to try. After running the tools and rebooting, you may still need to delete the Nero folder manually....I don't know, as I have never had to manually uninstall any version of Nero. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm <monty1945@lycos.com> wrote in message news:1190602199.589423.140010@o80g2000hse.googlegroups.com... > When I tried to do this, it took a look time in the retrieving > information stage, a few error messages appeared, and it never got to > the next stage, so I canceled it. I was getting NMIndexStorevr.exe has encountered a problem and will now close, which I searched around for, and it appears to be related to Nero Scout. The advice on other forums was to disable it, but when I clicked on properties, I saw no such box to check off, which they said would be there. I tried to run Nero, to see if I could disable it that way, but I get the operation failed/missing file errors. As I was watching the Add/Remove doing it's information retrieval, there were some messages as operations failing due to files not being found. Also, the screen lost the icons on the desktop for a few seconds two times during the information retrieval.

To get rid of Nero Scout: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/238141 or http://www.help2go.com/Tutorials/Software_Utilities/Disable_Nero_Scout_in_Nero_7.html Click Start> Run, type or copy/paste: regsvr32 /u "%COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Ahead\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dll" Click OK, then reboot. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm <monty1945@lycos.com> wrote in message news:1190603621.369217.323890@y42g2000hsy.googlegroups.com... >I was getting NMIndexStorevr.exe has encountered a problem and will > now close, which I searched around for, and it appears to be related > to Nero Scout. I tried regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\CommonFiles\Ahead\Lib \MediaLibraryNSE.dll" which is on that link you provided, but it did not work. Are you sure the % symbols are required?

Guest glee Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Re: Why can't I get Nero 7 off the hard drive with Add/Remove program? Use either regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dll" or regsvr32 /u "%COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Ahead\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dll" The "quotes" are required, as are the %signs% in the second example. Make sure the file MediaLibraryNSE.dll is located there....if not find where it is and adjust the path to that location. Did you reboot afterwards? Did you get a success message after running the command? What exactly do you mean by "it did not work"? -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm <monty1945@lycos.com> wrote in message news:1190606705.972811.14270@d55g2000hsg.googlegroups.com... >I tried regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\CommonFiles\Ahead\Lib > \MediaLibraryNSE.dll" which is on that link you provided, but it did > not work. I think it might have kicked back a file not found type of message, but I'm not sure - definitely not a success message. I'm not on that computer now, so I'll have to try this tomorrow. I guess if it's located somewhere else, I can cut and paste it so that I don't have to change the command. Thanks for the time.

Usually the simplest way to fix a flubbed uninstall is to reinstall the offending program, rebooting if required, and then try uninstalling it again the normal way. Turn off your antivirus/spyware software temporarily while you do this. <monty1945@lycos.com> wrote in message news:1190607108.246007.226450@19g2000hsx.googlegroups.com... > Yes, so should I just go ahead and try to delete all Nero files > manually? > >
