Guest Jake Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Hi, On one of our servers the sysvol\sysvol\<domainname>\policies and ..scripts folders are deleted. This was probably due to replication problems with FRS and it has been replicated 'the wrong way'. How can I have the system autocreate these folders again as they are after having installed a new system? Thanks a lot for comments and tips... cheers jake

Sysvol is part of the system state therefore if you perform a system state restore it will return the missing item. -- Johan Strange _______________________________ MCSE, MCSA + Messaging, CompA+ Logic42 Computer Solutions - The answer to everything "Jake" wrote: > Hi, > > On one of our servers the sysvol\sysvol\<domainname>\policies and > ..scripts folders are deleted. This is a brand new server and we hadn't taken a backup yet due to that were no user data yet (but we had worked quite a bit on a good logon script...). Does windows store copies of these folders elsewhere? If not, I have to ask again: How do I recreate these folders and what do i do to recreate the default domain policy...? Thanks again jake
Guest Johan Strange Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Re: Sysvol folders \scripts and \polices deleted... No, the folder is relicated to other DC's. It is created during the DC Promo process so if you loose the folder you either run DC promo again or restore. -- Johan Strange _______________________________ MCSE, MCSA + Messaging, CompA+ Logic42 Computer Solutions - The answer to everything "Jake" wrote: > Johan Strange wrote: > > Replicate the wrong way? Can you please provide the correct command line parameters for dcpromo to achieve the recreation of the sysvol folders and a new corresponding default domain policy..? I don't hope this will affect the user accounts already created...? Thanks a lot ;-) jake
Guest Johan Strange Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Re: Sysvol folders \scripts and \polices deleted... Can you confirm this. How many DCs do you have, does the DC with the issues hold the FSMO roles. What have you done so far to solve this. -- Johan Strange _______________________________ MCSE, MCSA + Messaging, CompA+ Logic42 Computer Solutions - The answer to everything "Jake" wrote: > Johan Strange skreiv: > > No, the folder is relicated to other DC's. I denoted DC1, rebooted and promoted it again. As you suggested. The win\sysvol\sysvol\mydomain folder is there with only a 'do_not_remove_NTFrs_preinstall_directory folder in it. Still no 'Policies' and the shared 'Scripts' folder. I suspect that the problem persists because the structure was replicated from DC2 again. Isn't it a way that I can kick an autocreation of the mydomain\Policies and the share mydomain\Scripts? Do I need to do anything with DC2 to no mess anything up until I have recreated policies and logon scripts on DC1? Thanks again ;-) Jake
