Windows XP Synchronization, Changed Profiles, Files Gone?

Hey guys,

I am having a serious problem here with a few users, which is fall out

from a project that was just recently completed. Over the past week,

we were in the process of doing a domain migration. We had taken the

entire side of the building down connection wise, and had to go to

each workstation to join them to the new domain. Any user (about 5)

who was using document redirection to their home folder on the server

was no longer able to synchronize their files.

When they were brought back online, they were joined to the new

domain, which then created a new profile for that user. Any user who

was doing the document redirection did not have a "My Documents"

folder. I went through every single computer when moving it to the

new domain and attempted to copy their Documents, Desktop, and

Favorites... We have one particular user who NEEDS to get those

documents back.

Since the previous domain does not exist for that user, I can't

directly login to their old profile. I've done searches everywhere on

their computer, as well as on the server, and was unable to find the

missing documents. It appears that anything that was worked on while

offline did not synchronize at all. We are able to see however in the

Recent Documents area on their old profile where the file "would be"

if it had synced. Is there any way possible I can get these documents

that weren't synced back?

Thanks!

Have you checked the Offline Files cache folder? You can get to it by:

1. In Windows Explorer, open a shared network folder.

2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options .

3. In the Folder Options dialog box, click the Offline Files tab, and then

click View Files .

After that, I'm not sure what else you could try.

Good luck.
