RDP 6.0.6000 changes user login info

I have many, many RDP shortcuts setup.

They allow me to connect to various servers, with differing resolutions

depending upon what I need to do, and with different usernames.

Before installing the newest and greatest, this system worked well.

NOW, RDP keeps changing my user names, and will not allow me to enter a

username before connecting.

Except for a couple of low-security requirement machines, I do not store the

passwords in my RDP shortcuts.

Can Microsoft please tell me what commandline switches or registry entries

are needed to make the new RDP work the same as before:

1. I want to enter a username and possibly a password, and possibly the

domain and be able to save this in my shortcut WITHOUT making an RDP

connection. I want to be able to use the named shortcut whenever without RDP

making an unintelligent substitution. The reason I have multiple shortcuts to

the same machine is that I need to keep different logon parameters saved. Why

would RDP think it would know better than I what I want?

2. RDP use to remember which monitor to use when i connect with a particular

shortcut. This is not as reliable as before. Even a switch that said

/Monitor=2 would be fine if I have to.

Thanks.

Re: RDP 6.0.6000 changes user login info

Hi,

Please read this document:

http://blogs.msdn.com/ts/archive/2007/01/22/vista-remote-desktop-connection-authentication-faq.aspx

If you want you can install and run the older Remote Desktop

Client (even on Vista). The install file for it is located on your

2003 server's drive here:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\clients\tsclient\win32\msrdpcli.msi

Thanks.
