Hi, I am trying to get a friends old mobo working, it is a DFI Lanparty NF2 Ultra B. He bought some PC2100 Ram for it which for some reason doesnt work, all that happens is it beeps. We then put a 256 stick of PC1600 in and that works fine, we have the pc2100 in the other 2 slots but it isn't recognised by the bios.

I have tried changing the FSB to 266 but then on restart it won't do anything.

Can someone give me an idea of what I need to do or am doing wrong please?

Thanks a lot

Sounds to me like the mobo isn't compatible with the 2100's, the bios needs an upgrade, or you have to set some ram settings manually.

Try checking here first for compatibility:

This is real real simple...... I am real simple so dont have a go but..... when I recently added Ram I got exactly the same problems.

I simply turned the ram around, put it in again and the beeping stopped and it worked. I was putting it in the wrong way round.

It's an honest answer. You can add it to the most stupid answer ever list but thats what happened to me!

Most RAM chips have a gap in the middle that is slightly offset to avoid that issue.

Have a look at the RAMs manufacturers website and it will give you the manual timings and also if you need to increase the voltage (DFI boards can take it :D)
