Guest RSOLY777 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Hello, How can I set an application running on windows server 2003 to use only 4 or 5 cores on a Dual Quad Processor machine? It must be able to always run this way even in the event of a re-boot. I want all applications to be able to use all cores but want to limit this specific application to always only use th3 defined 4 or 5 cores, (This is due to a license restriction in the Software that We will be using). Does MS have an application that will allow me to do this? This can mean the difference between a $40,000.00 License and a $80.000.00 License. I do not want to use any virtual server technology software to accomplish this. Thanks Robert

MS SQL is one example I can think of off the top of my head. I presume this is for lisencing options on a Per-CPU basis?

Great job pointing out this obscurity of windows it will save a lot of people a lot of licensing money!
