bigdurv Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Hi guys, this is my first post on this site and I hope you can help. I have just got a new laptop (as part of a free deal with a mobile phone) its a fujitsu siemens running vista home basic. I have a hp laptop running vista premium which I have no problem with. The laptop is connected wirelessly via a n1 belkin router. The problem is I can get onto msn homepage, yahoo homepage, ebay homepage but none of the page links work on any of the pages, I just get the cannot connect screen. I have set all my internet options to the same as the hp laptop but to no avail. I do have 2 more pc's which my sons use with no problem. The new pc has Norton antivirus on it and a norton phishing filter which I have disabled at the moment. Hope someone can help me. Cheers Dave Quote
RandyL Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 All other things being equal It might be the Temporary Norton Suite. Possibly the firewall or possibly just Norton being buggy. Try disabling temporarily every aspect of Norton. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. bigdurv Posted November 2, 2008 Author Posted November 2, 2008 Thanks for the reply, I deleted all the pre installed norton and re installed the full version that I have and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks once again for the help and the quick reply. Dave Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Good stuff Dave If you are not running any other form of Anti Virus consider perusing what we think are very good. http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/malware-removal-av-firewalls-etc/3597-free-pc-help-recommended-security-products.html In my opinion Norton is utter crap. RandyL Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 If you are still running Norton and choose to remove it beware. Whether you uninstall it via add/remove in the control panel or with the Norton Removal tool things may go wrong so backup everything first. Personally I don't like Norton as I have had many problems the one time I did have it on a trial basis with Vista. Quote We are all members helping other members.
