Fax Console of Server not seen on some XP nodes

Have an SBS Server with five XP nodes. The fax is installed on the server,

however, the fax console cannot be opened from some XP nodes but can be

opened from some. Can some one suggest the remedy for this problem?

Re: Fax Console of Server not seen on some XP nodes

When you say it can't be opened, what exactly do you mean? Do you get an

error message, or the Fax Console doesn't show under 'Programs'. If it

doesn't show up, make sure that the Fax client has been installed or post

the error if you get one

Re: Fax Console of Server not seen on some XP nodes

Thanks for your response to my post. In most of the XP nodes, when the

folder for Printers and Faxes is opened and the Fax on Server is clicked,

the Fax Console showing all the faxes in the inbox, sent, incoming, etc. are

seen. However, in a few when Fax on Server is clicked the window showing the

faxes in queue are seen like that of any other printer. How do I force the

XP node to show the Fax Console rather then the faxes in queue?

Thanking you in advance.

Re: Fax Console of Server not seen on some XP nodes

Rajiv,

On the computers that you don't see the Fax Console, if you go to

'Accessories' | 'Communications' | 'Fax' is there an entry for 'Fax Console'

? I'm thinking that the Fax client tools might not have been installed

properly on the workstation. Try going to Server Management, 'Client

Computers' select the computers that have the problems and then 'Assign

Applications to Client Computers' to re-assign the Fax client.

Another thing to look at is whether local workstations have a fax/modem

attached to them that might interfere with the server fax

Costas,

Thanks for your response. No fax/modem is installed on the clients. Ran the

"Assign Applications to Client Computers" but that did not resolve the

issue.

Costas,

Thanks for your response. As I was out of town, I could not reply earlier.

Sorry for the delay.

There is no entry of 'Accessories' | 'Communications' | 'Fax'.

Re: Fax Console of Server not seen on some XP nodes

Hello Manfred,

Inspite of trying all things, the Fax Console did not appear. While see the

Windows XP components in the Control Panel -> Add Programme, the Fax was not

installed. Installing the fax components resolved the whole issue.

Thanks for everyone's co-operation.
