Guest Matt Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Hi, I have a Windows 2003 domain and we have a Genicom 5000 printer that ocassionally will not print until we restart the print service on the server. After that, it prints fine for awhile. This happens about once a week. It's the only printer on our network that does it. The firmware is up-to-date on it and it is using a Generic driver because it is a line printer. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Thanks. Matt

Can this printer go to standby mode or any power saving mode ? -- Cordialement, Mathieu CHATEAU http://lordoftheping.blogspot.com "Matt" <matt@nomail.com> wrote in message news:%23XvKQhEAIHA.3900@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Hi, > > I have a Windows 2003 domain and we have a Genicom 5000 printer that > ocassionally will not print until we restart the print service on the > server. Guest Matt Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Re: Having to restart print server We can still print to every printer but this one. Once we restart the print service, any print jobs for this Genicom will take off and work fine. I'm not sure if it can go in to standby or power save mode or not. That's something I'd have to check. It only happens occasionally, not every day. Guest Matt Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Re: Having to restart print server "Supposedly" it's not being turned off. We can have a user call up and say that this printer isn't printing and we can see that it's offline and there's print jobs waiting. We can then go on the server and restart the print service and that fixes it for the time being. I'm curious if it's going in to Standby or Power Save mode. I'll have to check on that the next time it happens. Guest Matt Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Re: Having to restart print server Haven't tried that yet. I just recently inherited this problem from a fellow Admin. I'll give that a try the next time it happens.
