somerton Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I am using Vista home premium and Windows Mail. Recently instead of sending mail straight away, outgoing e-mails go into my outbox, when i press send, and i then get the sound of receiving mail. I am then able to send it by using 'send and receive' but it is annoying that it does not get sent straight away. I have checked the box in tools - options to send messages immediately and i have not changed anything recently and it was all working fine. Any ideas would be appreciated. Quote
Goku Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Hello Somerton. Please read the below article and perform the suggested troubleshooting steps. E-mail messages stuck in the Outbox Apply the changes and restart the computer. Does the problem still persist? -- Goku Quote
somerton Posted November 8, 2008 Author Posted November 8, 2008 Everything is correct except for the deleting and creating a new outbox folder. Before i do this, it does not mention Vista or windows mail in the systems. Only outlook express. Will i be OK trying this when i am using Vista and windows mail and not outlook express? Thanks for your trouble. Quote
RandyL Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Hi somerton. Windows Mail does not use dbx folders. Try this. Open Windows Mail. Click Tools. Click on Options. Click on Send. Put a check in Send messages immediately. Click OK. Restart Windows Mail. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. somerton Posted November 9, 2008 Author Posted November 9, 2008 That was already checked but i changed it and changed it back again but there is no difference. Outward mail just goes into the outbox and sits there until i click send and recieve. Quote
RandyL Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 This is a puzzle. What AV and/or firewall do you have? Maybe your AV is scanning the outbox. Do you have any other accounts in Vista Mail and if you do are they working right? Have you tried a setting up new mail account? Yours may be corrupted. Are there any other Windows users set up and do they have an email that works right? Do you have any third party email programs? Since you said this just started recently have you tried a System Restore? Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Goku Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 OK Somerton, here is another article for you to peruse. Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer that is running Windows Vista Let us know if it helps or not. Good Luck. -- Goku Quote
somerton Posted November 9, 2008 Author Posted November 9, 2008 I am using Trend 2009 internet security and this has recently updated from the 2008 version which may coincide with the problem. There are no other e-mail accounts on my PC and i have not tried creating a new account, not that i know how. With regard the article from Goku i have already seen this but as i am able to send the e-mails from the outbox by using send and recieve i did not think this applied to my problem as the e-mails are not 'locked' in. I did think about a sytem restore but have not tried it yet. Quote
somerton Posted November 11, 2008 Author Posted November 11, 2008 Tried the system restore and although the e-mail went into the outbox it did go after a short time, but not instantly as normal. Tried again several times and they just remained in the outbox again without sending but i could still send by using the send and receive, I have noticed that when i click the send and receive i get a 'connected ' window but it takes a little while for the mail to be sent and the window to change to the sending mail one. It then all goes very quickly. Quote
RandyL Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Check your AV settings to see if out going mail is being scanned. You could also try temporarily turning off your AV to see if that makes a difference. Just don't forget to turn it back on. Quote We are all members helping other members. somerton Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 Sorry i have not been around for a while. Contacted Trend and they said it was a Firewall problem and gave me some changes to do, all of which came to nothing as it did not correct the problem. Just to test it i turned off my Trend firewall and turned on Windows Firewall but again nothing changed. Its not a huge problem as some e-mails do go out but others just go to the outbox and wait for me to press Send and Receive. Its just annoying. Quote
