Guest JimiBlues Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Hi, I'd like to block, in the GUI of explorer, the ability to delete a subtree in one click. For example if you have a tree Root |_dir1 |_dir2 Suppose dir1 and dir2 each have a few documents in each. I want the user to be able to delete the documents in dir1 and dir2 one-by-one or even by using Select All and delete but they should not be able to right click the Root, or dir1 or dir2 and delete the entire Subtree of Root or even dir1's and dir2's subtree. I tried to do this by giving Modify rights Applied Onto Files Only at Root (perms adavnce dialog)--and Read/Write on subfolders. But what happened is: you *can* right click Root and choose Delete---it *will* erase all files in the subtree but no directories and will give an Access Denied error. I want to give an error and not do anything b/c i don't want to allow any deletions from the top level! Is this possible in Windows without buying third-party software? thanks.
