Jase Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Although i'm not having any problems, I was curious to know whether my mobo should beep on start up. Its an ASUS P5QL. My last mobo was an ASUS and that used to beep on start up. My speakers are on but I don't think that matters as I don't think the beep comes through them. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 If all is starting up ok Jase I wouldn't worry about it mate, I never hear a beep from my HP box when it boots. Quote
Tootech Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Jase, The beep comes from a speaker built into your PC case, or sometimes a small speaker that just plugs into your board connector. Older systems nearly always had a speaker connected, but these days quite alot of them don't have. Sometimes when you buy a new motherboard, there will be a small speaker with two wires attached in the bag of bits, that plugs into your board. Perhaps the only time you would need it is if you couldn't start your system, and the board was beeping an error code through the speaker, or if you use the BIOS CPU temp monitor - it would beep at you as the limit was reached. Otherwise, as Wolfey says, don't worry about it. Quote
