Shadow copies dissapear

Recommended Posts

I have a server that is running shadow copies twice a day. They seem to run

fine, then after a day or so they just dissapear. I see no errors in the

event log. I am running SP2 and all the updates. I have over 1 TB of free

space on the server so disk space is not an issue. Does anyone have any

suggestions?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,

You may have already checked this but..do you have a size limit set in your

shadow copies settings?

Are u storing the shadow copies on a different volume than the data

itself per best practices?

Hello,

Shadow copies may be lost when you defragment a volume

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312067/en-us

Volume Shadow Copy Service snapshots may be unexpectedly deleted after you

restart a Windows Server 2003-based computer

Re: Shadow copies dissapear

It deletes weather I restart the server or not. it is also not defrag that

is causing the problem.
