What does the bank have to say about this Centry as they will know when the account was last accessed?

Have the police been informed over this?

You don't have your bank details listed on your computer like account number and password etc do you?

All bank sites are encrypted when it comes to entering account details and most have two levels of security where initially you input your account number and then your first password, these key presses could be recorded however it should then take you to another page that will allow you to enter your second password from up to four drop down menus, this then is random and involves a mouse click only on the required character.

If it is a root kit or key logger then these are very difficult to remove and I would suggest the only possible course of action would be to format your PC and start again.

from wat i gather from what the bank has said its my debit card details which have been used there sending me out all the info on the past transactions which i have to go through. The idea it was something to do with my computer is just and idea there are possibilites my girlfriend has a habbit of recycling my mail which includeds bank statement without shreading them or anything.

my computer is always updated regulary both with anti virus and windows defender and i run scans every week

Since the phone call i run scans using Bullguard and windows defender which picked up a couple of minor cookies but nothing more. So ive also run ad adware, spybot and the windows one live online scanner which comes up clean

So bullguards a no no? is any of the free programes worth getting instead? for a tempory measure atleast

Well you could go with Avira for the AV and Comodo for the Firewall but if you do want to spend then go with the Security Suite from ESET.
