Guest kimiraikkonen Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Hello, Using XP SP2 with only one user account member of "Administrator". So, I'm admin and i'm using XP in "auto-login" mode, without needing to enter password. After i put my Windows into hibernation mode, then i press chassis power button to resume, the progress bar advances, at the end of resuming progress bar, i get full black screen with no notification. The optical mouse wasn't recognized. But if i uncheck Power Options -> Advanced tab -> "prompt for a password when the computer resumes from hibernate" the problem goes away and the desktop comes immediately. If not, the desktop does not come and i get a constant black screen at the end of hibernation progress bar end. Is it occasional or what is the reason?
Guest kimiraikkonen Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Re: Resuming from Hibernation problem My hardware specs: i845E chipset mobo (Asus), Geforce4 Mx440 VGA (forceware 84.21 driver), LAN card(surecom, connected, active), 768MB DDR-RAM (hibernation space). No special hibernation hotfixes were applied. Please help. Thanks.

Guest Bob I Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Re: Resuming from Hibernation problem What seems to be the problem? Unchecking the "prompt for password" cures the "issue". If you want to login, then undo the "auto-login". kimiraikkonen wrote: > Hello, > Using XP SP2 with only one user account member of "Administrator". Usually the machine cannot resume from hibertation resulting with a constant black screen at the end of resuming progress bar. Also the light of optical mouse does not light up after resuming, but sometimes hibernation works. Also After a successfull hibernation, my custom MSN Messenger settings and profile picture setting is lost. Is there a risk to cause faulty hibernation because of MSN messenger?

Yes, i typed but after testing more, i concluded that this wasn't the solution.

Is this the same PC with all the other issues you have been inquiring about? If so, there are many things that point to incorrect drivers.

Then you changed something. What did you change, what was the result. You have a whole bunch of threads going about this PC and everybody is trying to help, but this is pretty piecemeal and not getting back to the real issue that there is something fundamentally wrong with this PC.
