Serious Spam Issue

Hello fellow members,

 

I was going to post this in "off topic" but decided that this might be a better place. I am really angry and need the benefit of those who have had experience with the following type of issue.

 

As do most of us I have a number of email addresses for different purposes.

 

One account with my ISP carries my own name and is used for business purposes and email to close friends.

 

From time to time I have received spam that appears to have come directly from that account addressed to me and others although it does not post my full name when opened. The last few days that has increased and today I actually received a mail from the system service that one of "my"" emails has been returned due to an addressing error.

 

It really is bothering me that spam is being sent out with my account or at least under what purports to be my account. I also notice that there is a notice on the bottom that I am receiving this email as because I subscribed through MSN. I am bothered because while I do use MSN (and only for the last week or so) it (MSN) does not have that email address. Coincidence?

 

If anyone has had experience dealing with ISPs etc about this sort of thing please give me a bit of advice. It would be appreciated. :mad::mad::mad:

Don't know if this will help but a few years ago my ISP refused me to log in and I had to phone them. Was told that I'd been sending out 'block' spam from my email account. They gave me a new password and I had to run some antimalware programs, then, once the PC was clean ,to change the password again. That worked. Looking in my 'send' box was surprised by the amount of spam that had been sent out.
