Guest Ryan Hanisco Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 RE: Server freeze while defragging Arie, Are you trying to do this on the active node?? I wouldn't suggest doing a FS operation that would affect the availability of the boot partition on the active node of a SQL cluster. In a cluster situation, the c: drive should rally only be used for boot and the swap -- Neither of which are going to really benefit from a defrag, at least not enough to bother. If you are using C: for somehting other than that, than you shoudl look at your cluster design before going any further. -- Ryan Hanisco MCSE, MCTS: SQL 2005, Project+ http://www.techsterity.com Chicago, IL Remember: Marking helpful answers helps everyone find the info they need quickly. Guest Ryan Hanisco Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Re: Server freeze while defragging Good! If that is the case, then you really aren't going to see terribly much benefit from the defrag. so, if it breaks stuff when you do it, stop doing it. .... or at least only do the passive node. -- Ryan Hanisco MCSE, MCTS: SQL 2005, Project+ http://www.techsterity.com Chicago, IL Remember: Marking helpful answers helps everyone find the info they need quickly.
