felixm Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Hi When i try an open this i get a message stating 'Requested registry access is not allowed' and then 'Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implemention' or one of it's dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified'. I believe this error could be causing problems installing software, and also what registry fixers do you guys reccomend. I downloaded a copy of 'Errorsmart', any opinions about this program. thx
RandyL Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ATI software? Please do not use any registry program. There are plenty of bads ones but even a good one can cause serious damage unless you know exactly what you are doing. Dalo Harkin Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 When you go to the AMD/ATI website for the drivers you DONT have to download the Catalyst Suite, you can just get the display driver. felixm Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 according to AMd installing the catalyst control center, .net framework 2.0 has to be installed on my pc, it's currently 1.1. is this a straight forward process getting it to 2.0 thx
RandyL Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 I assume this is for XP. Just download and install Netframework. Note that it says you need the Windows Installer 3.0 first unless you already have that. We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. felixm Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 I assume this is for XP. Just download and install Netframework. Note that it says you need the Windows Installer 3.0 first unless you already have that. no, vista 32bit
RandyL Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Vista ships with 3.0 Very strange that it says you need it. felixm Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 well i assumed i needed it because i was still getting the same ''Catalyst Install Manager has stopped working' , but installed .net 2.0 and still getting the message. i tried to dl just the the display driver and the same thing...
RandyL Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Felix the download I gave you for netframework was wrong. That link was for the windows installer3.1 Either way you said you installed netframwork2.0. This is impossible to do on Vista. It would produce an error. Vista ships with netframework3.0 and the windows installer3.1 Both would produce an error when attempting to install. So like I said it is not possible to install netframework2.0 on Vista. Are you positive this is Vista? We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. felixm Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 definetly Vista. it's actually net 2.0 configuration sitting in 'administrative tools' so maybe it's not actually installed. How do i verify .net 3.0 is on my system? where will i find the actual file?
felixm Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 i could only dl and install ccc 7.11 which was out about the same time i got this pc. Do i need to install each update in chronological order? Would i have most of the driver updates (up into 8-11)anyway through the automatic updates my graphics driver is set up to recieve?
felixm Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 Randy, i tried to extract Window Installer 3.1 but a message comes up 'Not enough storage is available to process this command.' Is there a certain place i should install. Cheers
RandyL Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Both windows installer3.1 and netframework3.0 are already part of Vista. You got that message because you already have windows installer3.1. You said you installed netframwork2.0. which isn't possible because you already have version3.0 We are all members helping other members. felixm Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 okay, so i've located net framework 3.0 already on my pc. i take it i don't have to enable/activate it. cheers
RandyL Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 You don't need to do anything there with net framework. So it seems you do have a version of the control center installed. Am I correct? As Dalo Harkin noted you don't even need the control center just the drivers. If there is an automatic graphics drivers update I would let that handle the driver updates. If your graphics are functioning fine now I would leave it be. Are they working ok? We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. felixm Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 i installed 7.11 but i then got a BSOD so i did a system restore a day back. I'm reluctant to install it again but i've this issue with a game i can't install correctly, ccc might be a solution...
RandyL Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 The Control Center isn't going to help you with a game installation. However you do bring up some points I would like to mention. You restored your computer back to factory specs on Nov 5th. Dreaded Blue Screen. From then untill Now you still can't install this game correctly. Pc game installation problem. You are also getting Visual C runtime errors at this time. Microsoft visual c++ library errors Based on the last thread I listed it seems you have an HP. Based on the first thread I listed it seems this is a laptop. Based on everything I'll offer up some possibilities. It seems you have some dodgy or incompatable programs installed and you need to isolate and remove these. You also need to use HP downloads to get the correct drivers and software updates and totally forget about the Catylist Control Center. It will not help you and may be part of your problem with the errors. You should not be getting these problems if your games and other software are legit and compatable unless you don't have the proper updates. After all this computer was just reset. I think it's time to go back and undo what you may have done to cause these issues. We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. BeeCeeBee Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 (edited) Hi felixm I have been trying to follow your issues through this post and others and strictly from my point of view as a Moderator it is becoming a bit too difficult. Will you please go back through everything and just give us a comprehensive list of where you stand right now and what issues need resolution. We want to help but when everything is combined nothing is quite making sense, Let me try to give you some examples of what I am getting at. You are being asked certain questions or are given advice but I can't find any reply that we can follow and move on from. ie. You were told that you don't need the Catalyst ( the theme of this thread) and yet there has been no reply to that at all. It has been suggested that you return to XP and there was no reply to that either. The whole concept of having both at the same time escapes me totally. In yet another thread you were directed to the HP site by Wolfeymole and again By RandyL but you never reported back regarding that advice and instead opened another thread on a different issue. Your problems seem to be related to games and gaming. I believe you were asked the source and nature of these games but, again, I can not find where you have pinned that down for us. The biggest problem is that all of these tangents give us cause for concern that there may be some subterfuge going on here and we cannot have that. We are not the PC Police, felix, but we do have certain rules that we abide by and standards to maintain. We live by our reputation. That is not by any means to be construed as an accusation but I do want you to understand that appearances often take on a life of there own. Believe me, we do not want to withdraw our assistance to you and sincerely hope you will help us consolidate and streamline your issues. It is really in your own best interest. Please help our people to help you. I am not having a go at you and please dont take it that way. Edited November 20, 2008 by BeeCeeBee "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
