Upgrade to 64 bit using 32 bit serial. Is it possible?

Hi i recently performed a hardware upgrade on my PC and because of the limitations that 32 bit windows possess i now want to install the 64 bit version. More detailed my previous OS was Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit EN. My question is if i can use the same

serial in the fresh install as with the 32 bit.
