You could try changing you refresh rate to see if it helps. Right click an empty area on the desktop. Click "Properties" in the popup menu. Click Settings tab > Advanced button > Monitor tab. Only use refresh rates your monitor supports and be careful when setting it higher, sometimes it makes it worse. -- Brian A. The problem the OP refers to is the operating system refreshing the actual icons that are displayed on the desktop. It is possible to disable this, though it is registry hack. I would advise against doing so because if an icon does get lost, it won't get refreshed.
