Configure the Volume Preference

I have a powepint document (2010) which links to a excel spreadsheet (2010).

It's linked via the network drive: path, but each time I try to update the link it forces the path over to a UNC path.

 

This causes massive issues with addins I have in excel.

I have read throug http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323013 which elaborates on this issue and suggests a fix for this. This does not seem to work as this may be a fix for office 2002/2003 (ver 10.0)

and i tried this on office 2010 (ver 14.0). I have also tried to search this theme up on google and technet and i do not see any fixes for this on 2010.

My main question here would be: Is there some kind of policy and/or reg-fix that changes this?

 

If so, what is the name?

If not, how can i change this behaviour?
