Win7 stuck on installing update

After being out of town for a week, I used my home computer last night (it had been in Sleep mode). When I went to put it in Sleep mode again, the Sleep button had Shutdown/Update label. Clicked that and left. This morning, the computer is still running,

still displaying "Please do not power off or unplug your machine. Installing update 1 of 13.." Is a hard shutdown going to cause problems? Thanks.
