It appears that I have a virus but Norton techs (after 6 hours) say that what I am experiencing is not a virus and that I should ask Microsoft what is happening:

 

Beginning 3 days ago, each time I open a Folder, close that Folder and then reopen it, a small blue image is placed on the file symbol.

The image is in the lower left corner of the file symbol (such as the Word “W” or the Excel “E”) and covers approximately 25% in the symbol.

 

What is causing this to happen? Is this a virus?
