AVG stopping my access to my Apps on Windows 8 Pro, Should I have left Norton on as it came with the

I am having a lot of trouble getting the Apps to work on my Start page, when I disable AVG I can get access to some of them. When I downloaded Windows 8 Pro (paid for version) it had Norton installed and I uninstalled it to put AVG on.
