I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2.

Getting the 80070490 error on Windows update installs.

The following solutions recommended by what have been able to find have not worked:

I have tried Microsoft Readiness tool several time with no success.

I have tried using my Vista system disk with using the UPGRADE option also several time and still no success. The upgrade option is always grayed out.

I have done a new INSTALL 2 different times. I then run the Windows Update, over and over with each levels reboot. I always get back to the same level and get the 80070490 error on the following 9 updates:

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2564958)

Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB970430)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2604094)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2378111)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2686833)

Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2345886)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2656374)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x6

How do I get past this 80070490 error?
