color wrong

When I print using anything but "plain paper" "Properties"option on

Canon S530D, the black type now comes out brownish. Canon says

the problem is "fonts are corrupted." Is there any way to uncorrupt

without wiping out all my work and reinstalling Windows 98?

(I've done all the tests with the printer, and Canon, to no avail.)

Though that potentially could be the issue, often printers produce off

color due to ink levels which are not reported correctly by the software.

Have you checked, or are you sure you haven't run out of black ink and the

printer is attempting to *mix* a black color?

Also, there have been times when certain printers will attempt to mix

colors even when there are inks available, because the *driver* is

configured in the master application/printers to use color rather than black

[colors can be configured in the applications which required or should have

them].

As for the font issue: it is possible, however, it would be conducive to

know if you have Office, Adobe, or other applications which have installed

their own fonts, or which are attempting to manage them.

This will show you how to re-install your fonts so that you can call Canon

back and tell them that their first guess was wrong.
