Guest Simon Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I run XP SP2 and IE7. I much prefer the classic start menu but would like to change the order in which items are listed in the centre portion which includes Run, Settings, Search, Programs. Unfortunately it is not possible to drag items within this centre portion. Specifically the change I want (for ease of mouse navigation) is to place Search above Settings (currently it is immediately below). Can someone supply the Registry settings, please?

Guest Ron Badour Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Re: XP Classic Start Menu I don't know the answer to your question. I was not satisfied with the XP search function so I deleted Search from the start menu (I found a registry hack using Google), installed Agent Ransack (which is tons better than the XP search) and then placed a shortcut to it in the first position above the center part of the menu. Works for me. If you are interested, you can download the free program here: http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/ -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP 1997 - 2007 "Simon" <Simon@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:58EB63B0-722C-488D-85FC-355E6CDB9056@microsoft.com... >I run XP SP2 and IE7.
