Orange warning on Microsoft Security Essentials

I keep getting a warning that my Microsoft Security Essesntials is potentially unprotected. It states that I have not updated current virus and spyware threats although I have automatic updates selected plus I manually update them. I have uninstalled

and re-installed MIcrosoft Security Essentials but the problem continues. I do not have any other anti virus on my computer. The only strange thing I see is that it states "last updated 12.30.2012" which is a month away. Please advise how I can fix this

problem. Thank you.
